Started at 11.30am,we made our way to puchong jaya. our mission was to hunt a "Pan mee" shop(feature on TV Show Ho Chiak) and restaurant Tai Ping Lang" both seen on TV show "Ho Chiak"(Sunday 7.00pm 8TV) and "Taste with Jason-Ah Xian" (Sunday 10pm Astro AEC).
both of us were not really sure where the shop is located as it was on tv 2 weeks ago and i did not manage to jot the details down. i even forgot the name of the pan mee shop. i did a search on restaurant Tai ping Lang on the Internet but forgot to bring along with me the address and phone number. we just kinda know its around puchong jaya area.
so we manage to find "Restaurant Bao- Bao" actually we have been here once. but because the deco of restaurant bao bao is quite similar to the pan mee restaurant as seen on Ho Chiak, i though they change their recipe. but after we sat down only did we realise that its not the restaurant we are looking for. but is ok la....hungry already, so we ordered anyway. we were quite lucky to get a place as immediately after that, people were queing and kept coming in. so I ordered:
Special Pan mee (pan mee, fried fish cake, meat ball, pork, veg) RM4.60
Alex ordered Dry Special Pan mee RM4.60
extra fish ball RM2.50
and they have 4 different types of chili to choose from....quite nice the chili.
Well, after breakfast, i was not satisfy as i have not found the makan place we were looking for. so we decided to drive further around that area. We then saw a pet shop "grooming tails", when in, and took pictures with them:)
This Alaskan Malamute is a STAR.....he is feature in some of local magazine posing with models.
and i took picture with this husky which just gave birth and a very manja retriever.
Wa lah.......never give up....keep trying......tah dah.......found it! you can see a poster of "Taste with Jason" hanging at entrance and Ho chiak poster on top of it. restaurant Tai ping lang is where you get to eat home cook food. grandma's recipe style.
It was full house! with people still waiting. but the service is good and deco....feels just at home.
We had bang kuang cha (shredded turnip with fried cuttlefish) RM8 -signature dish
Hu pau (otak otak-steamed fish mousse) RM5
Tofu Rm5
other signature dish include ( these 3 pictures below are from the internet-the star.com.my)
Bak Kian-Rm8
Archat Hu-fried fish with ginger and tumeric
kali Kayor curry chicken
also available is their set menus from RM28 onwards. they have 3 different types of menu which they rotated every 2 days! Each menu as Set A to Set D. View their menu below:
