computer problems

hey guys, need you comments here.

my 2 year old acer lap top is spoilt. i have brought it to Pj Digital Mall for check up. and the result was:

1. my lap top mother board hard disk chip is spoilt. it will cost me RM380 to fix it. not changing the hard disk. just the chip.

2. cd rom also spoilt. it will cost me rm390 to fix a CDRW.

my cousin brother george advice me to get an external CDRW instead. althought a bit troublesome, but still it cost less then RM390.

what do you guys think?

any better recomendation?

Oriental Pavilion

i know i know, my previous blog was about animal cruelty, and here i am , at Oriental Pavilion @ jaya33 for these! these are the special occasions i am talking about. alex parents is in KL, so alex treat them for lunch. alex's dad loves to eat meat.......so here we are. enjoying one of oriental pavilion star dish- Peking Duck. i thought the price for the duck is quite fair. Rm68 and they made 2 dish out of it. but the hong kong garlic fried choy sum was over price! only vegetable cost us RM30!first dish: slice duck skin wrap with egg crepe.

then, the rest of the meat they fried it and eat together with Wan Ton Mee. i think the duck taste ok only. but the mee is really crispy........
other items we ordered are rost pork. i ate 1/4 slice only.....just to taste. but it taste good with the mustard sauce they provide. and char siu bun. i din take any of it.

do you know?

I recently had a chat with alex about exercising and sweating. When we exercise and sweat, it releases water and free radicals from our body. That is where most perception of sweating is good comes into debate. It is best to workout in room temperature but with basic air ventilation.ie. open you house windows when you are practicing bodypump. Or if its a gym environment, where there are no windows in a class room, on the air con. Temperature about 23-24 degree. So that our body do not over heat. And for people that workout alot, antioxidant is a must have.
But what about hot yoga? Where we purposely raise the room temperature to about 35 degree?
Alex’s conclusion is, because yoga is meant for relaxation and breathing technique, and less cardio compare to aerobic classes, plus, its heat is generated from outside(environment) to inside(your body). Therefore, the damage or release of free radicals will not be that extensive. Though there is still heat generated from within the body, the heated environment harmonize and maintain body heat throughout the whole hot yoga class.

Do you know cow farming is very environmental unfriendly. Nowadays demand on corn beef(mean the cow fed only on corn)are getting higher and higher by the day. Averagely 1 cow farm operation per month usage is equivalent to:

Water: enough to feed 3 1/2 villages in africa
Corn : enough to feed 5 3/4 villages in africa
Vitamin and Vaccine Cost: enough to pay medical needs for 700 childrens in africa
if all cow farm in China and Japan combined, the can dry up Lake Toba in just 4 days.

so the next time you want to order a scrumptous piece of steak, think again!!

that's why i am trying my best to become a vegan.....so far i only eat 1 meal with meat per day. sometimes during special occasion where the food is just too tempting, then i eat twice a day with meat lor:P

and i guarantee after viewing these 2 videos below, you will not be too fancy about eating meat.

I feel the earth spin.....

Tremors felt is Klang Valley-sources from star paper

i was watching are you smarter then a 5th grader on Astro when this happen! did you felt it too?

i had to confirm with Alex if it was just me. he says no. he felt it too. i have to say it is pretty scary. because i totally don't know how to react. cant even get up from the sofa to run....it was just a few seconds....less than 6 seconds....and yet it was enough. gosh,i felt like puking after that......maybe because of the spinning. it was not a strong kinda spin.......its just that......wow what an experience. well, alex felt ok because it was not his first time. he kinda got used to it :) after the tremor i got up and chant to Gohonzon. if it really was an earth quake, i hope the lost and damage is to the minimum..........so i waited till this morning to check and confirm from the internet.

PETALING JAYA: Scores of people ran out of their apartments in many parts of the Klang Valley last night when they felt tremors following an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale which occurred in northern Sumatra at 10.26pm.

Tremors were also felt in Klang and as far south as Malacca.

An aftershock was also felt at 10.49pm measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale.

The Star's office here was flooded with calls from worried readers from Banting, Kuala Lumpur, Puchong and here who felt the tremors.

In Malacca, The Star bureau chief Martin Carvalho, who lives on the seventh floor of the Straits Court Condo in Ujong Pasir, said he and his wife Karen felt the building swaying for several seconds while they were in the living room.

“I immediately told my wife to grab my five-year-old daughter who was asleep on the sofa and head for the emergency staircase next to our unit,” he said, adding that about 40 other residents also ran down for safety.

However, he said most returned to their units about 30 minutes later.

A fire and rescue department officer confirmed that they received calls from the public to enquire about the tremor.

“We received calls from residents from the Condo Pantai Peringgit including from Harbour Club in Bandar Hilir and Pantai Medical Centre in Ayer Keroh,” he said, adding that there was no report of injury or property damage.

James Nayagam, 53, from Taman Petaling in Petaling Jaya, said he and his wife felt the tremors at their double-storey terrace home at 10.30pm as they were watching television.

“We were watching television when suddenly we felt dizzy before realising it was an earthquake. It was over 10 seconds later,” he said.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department website confirmed an earthquake occurred 145km east of Nias, Indonesia, and 336km south-west of Klang.
